We found sand dollars on the beach Friday. They were my first whole sand dollars that I’ve ever collected. We found one big one and only 2 did not make it back to the trailer.
I had to get 6 stitches in my chin and they HURT! I was swerving toward two squirrels who were standing stock still on a campsite. The campsites were concrete. I didn’t actually make it to where the squirrels were because I was swerving too much. My bike tilted over and fell. I think my hand hit the ground first and then my chin, but I’m not sure. My mom was at the trailer and my dad was at the bathrooms. Luckily, the screen door to the trailer was open and my mom heard me. I walked a little bit and called my mom because it hurt IMMENSELY. I walked the bike until she came running. We dabbed my chin and then my mom went to the camp office and asked where a hospital was. We went to the adult hospital and then across the street was where the kid’s hospital was, called Children’s Express. We waited and I watched Disney channel for about 5 minutes. We got the stitches done. When the doctor put in the needle, it poked. When he pushed in the medicine, it burned.
We went out to dinner to Subway.
We miss you!

You are very brave Elise. The sand looks a lot like the sand at the beach at Destin, near Uncle Colin’s. After you have been there you can let me know if the sand is similar. Happy Thanksgiving. Love, HONEY

By all accounts, it sounds like you were a real trooper with your stitches! I hope you have an easy time with it when they go to take them out.
Your sand dollars sound really cool! This summer when we were on vacation at the shore in New Jersey, my mom and I found tons of starfish on a sandbar in the bay. We found them while we were out kayaking! We collected a few and brought them home. We made wreaths that we decorated with dried starfish and sand dollar shells, but we had to buy the sand dollars at a shell shop. Too bad you guys hadn’t been to St. George Island yet; we could have had you send us a couple of hand-chosen sand dollars!
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving – we’ll miss you!

Elise,
I also had stiches in my chin when I was little. They hurt more going in than when they were remove. It felt a little weird when they came out but it DID NOT hurt. We miss you and hope to see you soon.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving guys.
Love,
Uncle Mike

So sorry to hear about your bike accident. Your account of it was very detailed and Meg totally understood about the swerving thing. That happens to here sometimes too and she has fallen, but hopefully she won’t end up with stitches. I know you guys are “twins” but I could do without an ER visit! Happy Thanksgiving to you!
P.S. I’m thankful for your friendship with Meg.

Hi Elise,
We will have to compare scars when you get back from your trip. I had to get stitches in my chin in August. I was running up a ramp when I fell. It was a lot easier getting the stitches out then when they put them in. They just snipped the threads. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
